About

Meet Heather Lloyd-Martin, AI/SEO Copywriting Pioneer

Forbes called me “the pioneer of SEO copywriting.”

As SEO took shape in the late 1990s, I showed how a site’s content — its language, structure, and intent — could be optimized for search and drive sales and leads. This work became the foundation of SEO copywriting, now a multi-million-dollar industry.

As the field evolved, I shared SEO copywriting best practices with thousands of marketers, writers, and business leaders through workshops, customized client training sessions, and conferences, helping them write sales and informational content that clearly positions their work and converts.

I’ve presented at hundreds of events worldwide, including Direct Marketing Association conferences (where I served as Chair of the DMA’s Search Marketing Council), SMX Advanced, MarketingProfs, and yes — even a dive bar in Portland, Oregon.

My work has been cited in books and industry publications focused on search, content marketing, and digital strategy. I’m also a LinkedIn Learning instructor, with a course on B2B Content Marketing: SEO Copywriting

Beyond speaking and teaching, I’ve worked with Fortune 50 companies, search engines, universities, and organizations, including AAA, Cruise Critic, NBCi, See’s Candies, Dairyland Insurance, RTI International, and Tektronix.

Writers have always been at the heart of my work. My SEO Copywriting Certification trained hundreds of professional writers and in-house marketing teams, including teams from Papyrus, Dow Jones, Marriott, NBCi, and even the Royal Canadian Air Force.

That mission continues through Writers + Robots, a community for experienced copywriters who want to understand how AI is reshaping search, content, and visibility — without abandoning craft, judgment, or quality.

And yes, I still talk about SEO copywriting — with an AI twist.

Today, I help businesses and professional writers make clear, confident decisions about search visibility in an AI-driven landscape by building reader-focused content that ranks on Google and earns citations in AI search. For most of my clients, that means better brand messaging, stronger Google visibility, and clarity around how to streamline their workflow and repurpose content.

Locally, I work with service-based businesses including Willamette Wellness Center, Affordable Estate Planning, and Changing Places, helping them clarify their messaging, strengthen visibility, and attract the right clients.

Outside of work, you’ll often find me at a West Linn coffee shop, a Lake Oswego Chamber networking meeting, volunteering for parkrun, or kayaking the Tualatin River with my husband.
